Christmas Decoration Ideas for the Whole House

Here are my favorite Christmas decoration ideas for the whole house. From the kitchen to the playroom to the family room. I love Christmas decorations! I want to spread the Christmas cheer all over my house especially now that I have kids. Ever since I moved out of my parent’s house in college I had always lived in an apartment which made it easier to decorate. In an apartment, there is limited space so a little goes a long way. When my husband and I moved into our townhouse I got to go crazy and decorate so much more! Here are my favorite Christmas decoration ideas for the whole house.

Kitchen

Tie ribbon around your cabinets. It adds a nice festive touch that isn’t over the top.
Use a gingerbread house to decorate a narrow breakfast bar and add a DIY snow globe lantern
For every day decor, I decorate my table with red glitter coasters, a wooden Christmas tree box I filled with ornaments, and placemats with holly and pine cones on them.

Living and Family Room

Use garland, festive beads and a believe sign to decorate a table/buffet. I have a table with my record player on it so I used the garland to decorate around it.
Snow globes are a festive easy way to decorate any room! This snow globe was the 2017 St. Jude’s Christmas snow globe so the proceeds go to fund St. Jude’s Hospital. I bought this one at HomeGoods.
We don’t have a fireplace or mantel so I use the TV shelf as our “mantel” to hang our stockings and decorate similar to a mantel. I also trim the entire TV space with garland.
I found this beautiful oil painting Santa Clause image at Hobby Lobby and I absolutely love it! It is so easy to swap out the picture that usually hangs behind my couch and add Santa. It adds such a special festive touch to our family room. And he is always watching my kids.
This is our current Christmas tree. When my husband and I moved into our house I bought this $20 tree from Walmart because we were trying to afford a complete remodel of our house but I still wanted a tree. It has so much sentimental value for me I have no plans to upgrade anytime soon.

Playroom

I wanted to bring Christmas cheer into my son’s playroom but I also understand he is a toddler so my options for safe decorations is limited. So I made this Christmas Tree out of felt and I made ornaments with my son that can be moved on the tree using Velcro. He loves pulling the ornaments off and putting them back up. Plus as a bonus he is less interested in the family tree since he has his own!

Front Door

I live in a townhouse so we don’t have the whole front of our house to decorate so I have to make do with my front door. I bought a plain green wreath, plain green garland, and an outdoor pot and created DIY decorations.
